#1 Madeira Cake {Baking Bible Challenge}

This is my first bake as part of my challenge to cook all 219 recipes in Mary Berry's Baking Bible. Read a little more about my challenge.

To make it easy I thought I would start with the first recipe in the book - Madeira cake - found on page 39 of the Baking Bible.

The recipe is really straightforward and uses the all-in-one method, whereby you chuck all the ingredients in your trusty Kenwood Chef, beat it for a minute then scrape the mixture into the tin and bake.

I took mine out after 1 hour, once my skewer inserted into the middle of the cake came out clean. And here it is, with it's crisp golden crust and moist middle:

But the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say, so, guys, what do you think?

They're too busy stuffing their faces to comment, so I'll take that as a resounding "yummy"!
