This is definitely one of those recipes I would have previously skipped over - pastry and cake, way too much effort! But in fact, when using my trusty Kenwood Chef, making the pastry was a doddle, and the cake used the all-in-one method, so including the 25 minutes of cooking I had it out of the oven and cooling within an hour.
