#34 Hot Cross Buns {Baking Bible Challenge}

Surprise surprise, it's Easter and I'm making Hot Cross Buns! Luckily Mary Berry has a recipe so I can check bake number 34 off my challenge too whilst I'm at it.

You'll recall, if you're following my challenge, that I have little success with bread and other yeast based baking, and in fact I went so far as to say that I hate making bread. So I was a little apprehensive when undertaking these buns. But I optimistically set about making my dough and decided to use my dough hook to do half the kneading, then did the remainder by hand.

I used my airing cupboard to prove the dough and took Rosalie to the park whilst it doubled in size, hopefully!

It did rise, and, once shaped into buns, marked with a cross, baked and glazed, I was quite pleased with the end result! The buns were shiny, with a lovely crust and a soft middle. Of course they were a little denser than shop bought, but I think that's to be expected, isn't it?

    1. I think you mentioned your bread recipe before, I'm just rubbish at kneading, too feeble I reckon, that's why I got my Kenwood to do half the work with these buns and it seemed to do the trick! xx
