Out and about
Last weekend we went to Millets Farm Centre - it's a garden centre, farm shop, small farm zoo and play area. The weather forecast wasn't great but we had planned to go so we just went for it. Plenty of other people had ventured out, and for most of the morning it was reasonably dry if a little chilly. Rosalie loved seeing the goats and did her best bleat at them! She also liked the big pigs and of course the ducks! Unfortunately it came on to rain right around lunchtime, so we did in fact end up having a picnic in the rain. Rosalie didn't seem to mind, she had her babybel so she was happy!
We've also had a couple of trips to the park - both mornings the park was deserted! I couldn't believe it. Still it was good for us as it meant no waiting around for the swings, and we could stay for as long as we liked. And I had a go at making a little video!
Fun at home
As well as the usual reading stories, stacking cups and rings, building with blocks and rocking out, this week we've been playing with our dyed rice, which Rosalie even tried to help sweep up! We've also been attempting some colouring in, the Dear Zoo puzzle and we made a sticky collage.
Time for me
Last weekend Jim and I had a movie night in. We made sure we'd done all the chores so as soon as Rosalie was asleep we whipped up the microwave popcorn and settled in for the night. It's nice to completely switch off sometimes and get absorbed in a fictional world.
My happiest moment
Can I have two? This week is the first time Rosalie has properly stood for a long time on her own without holding on, and if she isn't quite close enough to something she will take a teeny, tiny little step to reach it. Proud mummy moment!
But also this week I have had some really lovely afternoons reading with Rosalie - she will bring me books, climbing on and off my lap to get new books for me to read to her. I love cuddling up with her on the sofa and looking at books, especially when the rain is beating against the window, it feels so cosy. Elmer is still her favourite at the moment, but it's got to go back to the library next week!
Check out my other Happy Days posts so far and join in too. #HappyDays is hosted by Katy from What Katy Said and Jenna from Tinyfootsteps.
