Happy Days #17

It's time for Happy Days! Hosted by the lovely Katy at What Katy Said and Jenna at Tinyfootsteps.

Out and about

We had a brilliant day out to The Living Rainforest last weekend, it was fun to do something a bit different, and I think Rosalie enjoyed experiencing some new sights, sounds and smells! You can read more about our day here.

I'm not sure if this counts as 'out and about' since we didn't leave the garden, but on Tuesday we had a small amount of settled snow! Since Rosalie hasn't experienced snow yet I bundled her up in her snow suit and took her out in it first thing before it melted. Quite honestly I think she was thoroughly unimpressed by being plonked on the cold damp ground, but I had fun photographing her!

Also on Tuesday we met with the Jolly Babies mummies and babies before the class - we had the most amazing homemade coffee cake and warming hot chocolates, and the babies shared a slice of banana cake, in the church drop-in cafe; I think we might make it a semi-regular thing which will be lovely.

We had a few fun but chilly sessions at the park, and we went to playgroup on Thursday. Rosalie really seems to enjoy getting involved with the bigger ones at playgroup, which I find a little hairy, as I'm petrified she's going to get trampled! This week she especially enjoyed playing in the playhouse - climbing in and out through the window.  I'm really pleased we go to the group as it's good for Rosalie to socialise, but it is very busy (around 30+ families) and I think an hour and a half is too long for her at the moment as she gets really cranky and tired about half way through. She usually perks up for the singing though! This week she was so worn out that she skipped her usual lunchtime, napping from noon until around 2pm.

On Friday we took a trip to the library where we met up with Baby G and her daddy. After choosing some new books we went to Costa for a coffee and the babies had a snack. It's nice we still get to see Baby G even though her mummy has gone back to work.

Fun at home

On Monday we had a finger painting session! I'm not going to tell you it wasn't messy... because it was, very! But we had fun and maybe I'm biased, but this could have a place in the Tate Modern, don't you think? Just kidding!

Apart from that we haven't spent much time at home; since Rosalie seems to be in a phase where occupying her for more than a few minutes is pretty tricky, we've tried to get out and about as much as possible.

Time for me

On Monday my friend R came for tea and cake in her lunch break - it wasn't total 'me time' because I was giving Rosalie her lunch at the same time, but it's good to have a natter and an excuse to eat yet more cake!

My happiest moment

We had a really great time at The Living Rainforest, it was wonderful to see Rosalie's interest in the plants and animals, and I thoroughly enjoyed taking photographs (it's been great getting back into the habit of using my DSLR) and was rather pleased with the results.

Check out my other Happy Days posts so far and join in too.

  1. Oh the living rain forest is near where we live. It is good that you pay once and can then go all year for nothing. Great pictures x
