From cover-to-cover there are cut-outs on every page and Rosalie (and mummy!) enjoys running her fingers along them, tracing the shapes and patterns. Up the stems her little fingers go to reach the felty dandelion clocks and the fluffy flowers.
This book doesn't have a story, it's more about exploring the scenes with your fingers and connecting with the vibrant illustrations, letting the fingertrails lead you through. There are a few words on each page, but these only serve to describe the sounds and movement.
There are a few flaps to lift, and the odd squishy part to press, but I don't really feel that these enhance the book much. For us, the fingertrails are what makes this book stand out from the crowd. Being able to trace the different shapes and follow the story by dragging your finger across the page.
My favourite is definitely the seahorse, such a wonderful shape to trace! It's strangely therapeutic!
I do like the glitter and sparkles too, as this makes the pages even more fun, both visually and to the touch as in many instances the glitter is raised.
Definitely a book for 0+ months, but Rosalie still enjoyed it at a little over one year old, just not as much as Elmer!

Oh that's just gorgeous! I'm a big fan of the Usborne touchy feely books, I think they do them really well, but I've not seen this one before and it just looks so tempting, especially to fireworks page - definitely one to remember for Pip's birthday in the summer :)
ReplyDeleteOh and thank you for letting me know the linky wasn't showing up - I think I've fixed it now - hopefully :)
Definitely look this one out for Pip :)
DeleteI remember this book! I think ours was slightly different, it had space in and a garden scene - but the twins loved it! Really good books to develop them and interact. Jess x
ReplyDeleteGlad the twins enjoyed this one too! x
DeleteThe Usborne baby books are great and the ones we had for Bubs were very well loved. I wish I'd known about this one as I think she'd have loved it as would I. My favourite has to be the seahorses but I love the glittery trail on the ice skating page.
ReplyDeleteThe ice skating page is really pretty and it was quite topical with the chilly weather
