Happy Days #21

Spring has definitely arrived in Berkshire this week, so we've managed to get plenty of fresh air and exercise.

Out and about

Last weekend we did a lovely walk over Watership Down, the views were amazing and far reaching. It was really windy on the ridge but it's always good to blow away the cobwebs, and there's nothing like fresh air and beautiful scenery to clear your mind.

On Wednesday Rosalie and I went out for a baby carrier walk; when we started out I wasn't too sure how far we'd go, but once we were outside and realised just how warm it was we decided to make a full morning of it. We did a circular route from the house, along the canal, through the Nature Discovery Centre Lakes and back through the houses. We didn't see a sole until we got to the Lakes, the canal was so peaceful. We saw a Heron but I couldn't get my camera out in time. It was a great morning.

I've been wearing my step counter this week and on Wednesday, due to also meeting a friend for a walk in her lunch break I ended up doing 14,731 steps!

Fun at home

We haven't done anything new at home this week. But Rosalie is enjoying practicing her walking just holding one of my hands, I think it really won't be long before she has the confidence to let go!

On Friday I had a newly acquired mummy friend around, our daughters are just two months apart in age, but she's on number three, so slightly more experienced than me in the child rearing department. The girls played really nicely together and enjoyed my banana bread. We had a good old chin-wag over a cup of tea and piece of cake, a perfect morning.

Time for me

Even though we had the babies playing on the rug at our feet, I consider Friday morning a bit of me time, because making mummy friends is important - no one really understands things quite like another stay-at-home mum.

My happiest moment

Coming back from our walk on Wednesday I felt really happy - it is so true what they say about fresh air and exercise being a fantastic mood improver. Unusually Rosalie stayed awake for the whole walk and it was such fun pointing everything out to her. I feel so fortunate to have the canal and lakes just a short stroll from my front door.

Check out my other Happy Days posts so far and join in too. #HappyDays is hosted by Katy from What Katy Said and Jenna from Tinyfootsteps.

  3. Gorgeous photos! And I'm glad you've found a new friend. I think it's so important to have 'grown-up' time as well as time with the kids. (Despite not having any of my own! Lol!)

  4. That first picture - wow!

We also live with some beautiful scenery around us - not quite as amazing as those you've shared - but I do feel very lucky to have this wonderful landscape and be able to get out there and enjoy it, especially with spring making some what of an appearance lately. Fresh air does wonders!

  5. Gorgeous photos Jess! How wonderful to have the canal so close. We're not far from a stretch of the Basingstoke canal but I never think about walking there. I'm obviously missing out on a wonderful time! :-)

What a clever girl Rosalie is with her walking. It happens so suddenly, that little burst of confidence that has them taking their first unaided steps. Keep your camera close! :-)

    1. Thanks Vickie :) It's easy to feel bored of the things you have close by, but when you take a moment to appreciate it you realise how wonderful it is! I hope you get a chance to head over to the Basingstoke Canal, we did a nice walk over that way a few years ago :)

My camera is never far away!! xx
