#54 English Muffins {Baking Bible Challenge}

Last week Rosalie and I spent a morning making English muffins. She helped me measure out the flour, she tried to help with rolling out the dough, and was really good at stamping out the muffins. I don't own a straight-sided round cutter so we decided to make sweetheart muffins!

Baking with yeast is my least favourite type of baking - I hate kneading (I have feeble hands) and my dough never seems to rise, which ultimately leads to dense bread. But I made some pretty successful hot cross buns earlier in the year, so I was hopeful the muffins would turn out well.

Did you know that you fry the dough? I didn't, but I do now!

The muffins were definitely denser than shop muffins but were really delicious toasted and spread with butter.

    1. Thanks Carie! There are 219 recipes in the book, so quite a way still to go...

  2. I had no idea that you fried them! I figured they were made in roughly the same way as bread rolls. These look delicious Jess and actually I think I prefer them as hearts. :-)
