#43 Strawberry Dessert Cake {Baking Bible Challenge}

In celebration of summer I planned to make Mary Berry's Strawberry Dessert Cake, and because I already had the strawberries ready, despite the sun being replaced by rain this morning, I ploughed ahead and made it anyway. But I'm glad I did as it has turned into a lovely sunny summer evening, just perfect for scoffing strawberry cake covered in cream!

I had a little 'helper' whilst making this, but she mostly enjoyed eating the strawberries before they made it into the cake! I must admit I may have sneaked one too (shush!). Chef's perks though right? Like scraping the bowl.

You cook this one cool and slow, and once it's done the cake is moist and springy and the strawberries are mushy and jam-like.

As recommended by Mary Berry, we had ours warm with cream and it was delicious, but I'll have to report back on how it fares once it's cold. I might give this one a go again using different fruit, I think it could work well with apples.
